Kea round two

August 2019

We decided to bring along everyone to check out Kea in the summer, see it at the height of summer madness, and confirm this is the one. Of course we enjoyed it, as JC says, what’s there not to like about any Greek island? Fair point, that. The main objection was that perhaps it was a tad too quiet, too small, a bit too sleepy, a bit too peaceful. Koundouros was hectic, but we’d already decided against what felt too much like a resort neighbourhood.

What did we learn? The Aegean felt right, gazing across the water. The green of the hills, even in the summer months, was especially appealing, likely because all of us had spent all or most of our lives in a rain forest. We joined a summer festival, and hoped we find enough liveliness for some of these panigiria. We liked the proximity to the mainland, but agreed to stay on an island, and hopefully not too much further than the half hour ride from Kea to Lavrio. Time to ramp up the search…

Indoor-outdoor living, and steepness offers unparalleled viewscapes

….and then there was Covid.
